Design of Continuous Authentication using Face Recognition

In this paper we describe the development of an experimental continuous authentication system which uses face recognition and the evaluation of this system. The system uses OpenCV libraries for and Local Binary Pattern as face recognizer. The performance of the system is tested on several aspects: the taxation on the CPU, different environmental conditions, how well an imposter is detected and how well an authorized user is detected. It is possible to design a continuous authentication system using face recognition, but it still needs improvements before it can effectively be used to provide an adequate level of added security.
